DeBruce Ranch Miniature Horses

est. 1987'

We've always taken pride in our equine breed of choice The Miniature Horse. Purchasing our first one in 1987' our goal became quite simply to breed the best we could. Today we're crossing Shetland/ Hackney breeding, bred down under 38"  with our Miniatures, Working our way under 34" is our ultimate goal.  We've purchased better stock through the years, we've bred to better stallions and sold though the years making room to improve what is now in 2008' our winningest stock ever. (see page #6) As always we're constantly striving to improve our stock to compete in the ever changing  world of show miniatures.

Living and working here on our ranch 24/7. Located in the heart of Norco, "Horse Town U.S.A." in beautiful sunny Southern California. No sidewalks in this town just horse paths to ride or buggy  down. We're a small ranch under 3 acres. (California ranches go by price per acre not number of acres don't u know:)

After purchasing a miniature horse as a mascot for our Race horse ranch in the mid 80's we started discovering how much fun they were and the pleasure they brought us watcing them in pasture, giving em carrots while out in the mini pastures or back yard. Driving them in cart down the Norco pathes. Pleasure of being able to interact with the little horses and kids enjoying and caring for them became a family project.

We realized how much less of a tole these little guys had on our well.. "slightly" aging bodies, I know as a lover of equines i want to stay active with them as long as can. These minis add (mini) years!!

One of our first foals we decided to sell won Jr. Champion at the Pomona Fair in L.A. mid 80's a really nice yearling and he sold as soon as we made it known he was available...wow i couldn't believe it, a real profit! It didn't take to long to learn how profitable miniatures could be there was nothing miniature about that check!

Of course gentlemen the problem then becomes convincing your spouse, "HONEY WE AGREED WE CAN'T KEEP THEM ALL!...REMEMBER???"

* I read a survey some years ago that said the average miniature owner back then had 6 miniatures I wonder how many it is today?

Today after many years in the  business our ranch services include breeding, conditioning, training, swimming, showing, handling, foaling and selling ours as well as others horses big and MINIS.

We'd love to share horse stories and many years of trial and error ... 30 years where'd the time go?)  also how we've adapted our big horse training tecniques to the miniatures over the years. (of course when i say, "we" about training.... I mean Jeanne!.. however I am the chief cook, bottle washer and ranch keeper upperer and occational story teller, website builder, advertising agent, secretary, pick up the kids take out the trash, clean up that mess, do the windows.. Danny do this Danny do that..... OK OK i'm not bitter...where was I. Oh yes. I'm not Danny i'm Jeannes husband ...sorry. (if she reads this i'm dead meat)

Jeanne professionally trains several diciplines, Halter, Showmanship, Liberty, Jumping, Hunter, Driving, etc. with miniatures as well as large horses including Drafts & Mules

For 15 years her speciality was working with problem race horses.

A Special Thanks to:

"Hobby Horse"  2008'

Julie Farmer of Norco, Ca. is modeling a beautiful Hobby Horse outfit with her own miniature horse. His stable name, "Luke",  was purchased from DeBruce Ranch.

Wearing this gorgeous jacket in the show ring may not get your horse a blue ribbon, but you'll certainly look like a winner. It's a perfect design for any of the miniature horse halter classes! Dress for Success in the Show Ring with Hobby Horse!

A big Thank You to Suzanne Drnec owner/ founder of Hobby Horse Clothing Co.
